Beauty with Purpose
Atura Naturals presents to you a new luxury-one that is wildcrafted, handmade and ethical at accessible prices.
Our vision at Atura Naturals is to use our clean and sustainably sourced beauty products as a vehicle for social impact, conscious consumerism and economic sustainability and empowerment.
The land and people that provides us with the ingredients, we are committed to giving back to the land and the communities.
We free ourselves from middlemen and sell directly to you, which allows us to offer high quality and effective products. This also enables us to empower local businesses and ensure sustainability for the local communities we partner with.
From the very beginning we have worked directly with local women who wild harvest our shea nuts, process in local production and preparation cooperatives.
With Atura Naturals, small-scale farmers and producers are able to access the global market as we connect them directly to consumers which expands their business horizons. We also support these women by improving production capacity and provide them with a fair, sustainable and above-market income which increases their financial autonomy.
The practice of gathering natural resources such as plants or herbs from their natural habitat (the wild), rather than harvesting from farms. The Shea nuts that are gathered by the local women are done so from trees which are 15-20 years old grown in their natural habitat, a gift from mother nature.
We do not pick pre-maturely and only when ready for harvest in the months of May/June.
Sustainable Sourcing & Conservation
Wildcrafting is a responsibility we take seriously and we ensure we leave things better than we found them. The small scale group of women we have partnered with align with our values by having eco-friendly credentials of their own and operate on ethical principles.
Our harvest needs are sustainable-what this means is that we do not take more than we need. Our promise is to never harvest non-regenerative ingredients.
These trees known as ‘Yao’ in Leb Lango, a language used by those in the Lango region, Uganda have unfortunately been targets for firewood and have been destroyed at an alarming rate. Efforts have been made to prevent the deforestation of these trees, which the Shea Project cooperative actively is a part of in the Lango region. We protect the local environment through the preservation of shea trees, through the use of sustainable practices and collection protocols in collecting and processing to protect resources.
We are committed to producing products that are eco-friendly, honest and raw which we means that for every stage of the process we closely monitor to ensure the highest quality.
Each jar is hand packed by our in-house team with love and care.
